Community Garden

Have you go something to offer? time, resources, skills, plants? Then we would love to here from you! Click here...

Community gardens are all the rage as we transition towards more sustainable living in urban environments. Not only do they produce delicious edible goodies but they also help communities bond and strengthen networks.

A garden for the community is coming

Community gardens are great environments for enjoying different cultures, teaching and learning new skills. From little things big things grow so we are looking for interested people to start planning the garden and making networks within the community.

We are starting with a blank canvas here so the Department of Housing has committed some ‘start up’ funds toward the community garden. This funding will be used to facilitate community information sessions for interested residents and later the development of a pilot garden.

Your Garden

Community interest in the establishment of a community garden in the Browlie Neighbourhood was identified early in the community engagement phase of the project.

Future site works for the redevelopment of the Brownlie Neighbourhood mean that a site for permanent community garden is not yet available. In the interim, the plan is to develop a pilot community garden.

The community garden has three parts:

  1. A pilot community garden
  2. A Men's Shed
  3. A permanent community garden

The following community groups have been involved in establishing the vision for the garden

  • Individual community members
  • Brownlie Residents' Association
  • Bentley Salvation Army
  • Love Bentley
  • City of Canning
  • Curtin University

We would love for you to join us and help us create a special place for the Brownlie community!
